Another Google ranking factor is pageviews and your headlines can help a lot in attracting more organic pageviews to your blog. 

Other webmasters usually do this to attract clicks on search engine because if you have appealing headlines you will have the chance to get much clicks than your competitor above you on search result because you have the right title for the content that searchers are looking for. 

You Are Not Repurposing Your Content 

Repurposing content is a way where you drive extra traffic to your old blog post and the solution for that is internal linking. 

To do repurposing content and internal linking at the same time, when writing new content try to use your latest content to refer traffic to your old blog post to get more pageviews and also to get more low bounce rate to your blog.
